Dr. Kim Timby - "Photographies d'amitié. De l'usage collectif du photomaton"

February 20th, 2012 6:10PM

Dr. Kim Timby, History of Photography Professor, and Nora Mathys publish, “Photographies d'amitié. De l'usage collectif du photomaton” in the exhibition catalog of “Derrière le rideau – L'esthétique du photomaton” opening at the Musée L'Élysée Lausanne on February 17th. This exhibition will showcase over 60 international artists.

Dr. Kimberly Timby and Nora Mathys have created a text on the practice of posing in photo booths in the catalog for the exhibit “Derrière le rideau – l’esthétique photomaton” (Behind the Curtain – the Aesthetics of the Photo booth) curated by Clément Chéroux and Sam Stourdzé featuring artists inspired by the medium of photo booth photography.

Timby has also taken part in the scientific planning of this exhibition that will not only look at the subjects in the photographs but also address the booth, the spontaneity, process and the physical materiality of the product. The result is a chronological and conceptually intriguing exploration into the world of photo booth art highlighting prominent modern artists such as Andy Warhol, Max Ernst and Roland Tapor.
